The Powerful Legacy of Randy Pausch
70Remarkable
Once in awhile in our lives we run into someone truly remarkable.
Randy Pausch's
"The Last Lecture" was one that I shall always remember.
I was inspired to do this hub after visiting a hubber in the hopes that many more
will be inspired by this amazing man.
On September 18, 2007, computer science professor Randy Pausch stepped in front of an audience of 400 people at Carnegie Mellon University to deliver a last lecture called “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.” With slides of his CT scans beaming out to the audience, Randy told his audience about the cancer that is devouring his pancreas and that will claim his life in a matter of months. On the stage that day, Randy was youthful, energetic, handsome, often cheerfully, darkly funny. He seemed invincible. But this was a brief moment, as he himself acknowledged.
Randy’s lecture has become a phenomenon, as has the book he wrote based on the same principles, celebrating the dreams we all strive to make realities. Sadly, Randy lost his battle to pancreatic cancer on July 25th, 2008, but his legacy will continue to inspire us all, for generations to come.

I will never forget this man and the example he set for everyone. I needed to read this hub, Carrie, and thanks so much for creating it. I especially like " Forgive everyone for everything." Big thumbs up!
I've watched his lecture many times and read the book. I wrote a hub about it long time ago but it was titled something different I don't recall, but about ways to create a book for your children. Randy inspired me to write something especially for my daughter- something like what he wrote but personal to me and my daughter. We never know how long we have and a final lecture of our own, a personal legacy, is priceless. What a guy! I think he had 3 months to live, but lived almost 2 more years because of his outlook.
Happiness isn't a mission or a destination, but rather an outlook- finding the simple things in your life to be thankful for.
Randy Pausch's "The Last Lecture" changed my life. I was touched by someone who is truly remarkable. I bought the book and share it with everyone who will listen. So moving!

Wonderful lessons we can use throughout life - Thank you for posting this and bringing him into my awareness.. Stay strong and be gentle with you. I am enjoying the things I find here.
He is awesome. There is a famous Chinese proverb that said, "When a tiger dies, it leaves its skin behind. When a man dies, he leaves his name behind." And that's exactly what Randy did.
I think reading this hub just enriched my life what a remarkable man,a very inspirational hub!
